Thumbs up or thumbs down? The Manhattan Short Film Festival gives you a chance to indulge your inner film critic.
Film lovers in Danbury can unite with an audience of over 100,000 film buffs across six continents in over 250 cities, when the Manhattan Short Film Festival returns to The Palace Danbury on Friday, September 23.
“This is the sixth year in a row that The Palace Danbury has hosted this film festival. It’s an audience favorite. People come back every year to watch, discuss, and vote,” said Carol Freud Spiegel, managing director of The Palace Danbury.
Manhattan Short is not a touring festival; it’s a simultaneous celebration bringing great films to great venues and allowing audiences to select their favorites. Ten short films selected among entries from around the globe will screen across the world during the week of Friday, September 23 through Sunday, October 2.
Audiences at each venue will watch the same ten films and receive a voting card in which they will be asked to vote for the one film that they think should win. Votes are tallied by each venue and sent through to Manhattan Short headquarters. The overall winner is announced on Monday, October 3.
“As Forest Gump would say, this festival is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get. Each film is different… comedy, drama, action, and animation, only limited by the filmmaker’s imagination,” noted Carol. “A good short film has everything a feature-length film has — a well-written script, strong acting, and high production values; however, the storytelling is quicker and tighter.”
