Strawberry Elderflower Gin Fizz

By Alicia Ghio

Having a cocktail on the patio while we make dinner is one of my favorite ways to unwind after a busy day. In summer, I love a cocktail or non-alcoholic beverage that reflects the summer season. It’s usually something with fruit, that’s not too strong and just a little bit sweet.

The very ripe strawberries sitting on my kitchen counter inspired this adult beverage. This cocktail is refreshing to sip for on a hot summer evening, or afternoon, for that matter. It would also be a delicious adult drink option for brunch. The muddled strawberry gives the drink a delightful pink hue. Of course, you could use whatever berry or fruit you have on hand.

Cheers to summer.

Strawberry Elderflower Gin Fizz

Serves 1

1 ripe strawberry, chopped

2 ounces gin

1 ounce elderflower liqueur

Topo Chico Mineral Water or any sparkling mineral water

In a cocktail shaker, muddle the chopped strawberry.

Pour in the gin and elderflower liqueur. Add ice and shake for about 20 seconds.

Strain into a highball glass filled with ice.

Top off with the Topo Chico Mineral Water.

Garnish with a slice of strawberry and serve.
