Danbury is now home to the region’s premier orthopedic care center providers. On December 7, Mayor Mark Boughton, joined by local dignitaries and community members, welcomed a team of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, physician assistants and therapy specialists while celebrating the opening of OrthoConnecticut I Danbury Orthopedics Center at 2 Riverview Drive in Berkshire Corporate Park.
Danbury Orthopedics, a member practice of OrthoConnecticut, offers an expert group of orthopedic specialists, including a team of sports medicine doctors who work with sports-related injuries and conditions of all kinds. The practice has its own x-ray, MRI and on-site physical therapy specialists, allowing patients to recover in a single, integrated location. All the practice’s physicians are fellowship-trained, and experts in their specialty.
Danbury Orthopedics’ areas of expertise include five Centers of Excellence, where patients will find integrated comprehensive treatment for bone or joint pain injury and subspecialized orthopedic surgery to get back to leading a healthy active life. These include The Foot & Ankle Center – surgical and non-surgical treatments, bracing and orthotics; The Hand Center – specialized care for the upper extremities from elbow to finger tips; The Total Joint Center – covering hip & knee and shoulder & elbow; The Spine Center – specializing in minimally invasive surgery and nonsurgical treatments; and The Sports Medicine Center – for the recreational, competitive and professional athlete.
“This is the center which is really built for our patients, to make a positive experience for everybody who comes to OrthoConnecticut I Danbury Orthopedics,” said Dr. Michael Brand, Sports Medicine Specialist and Knee and Shoulder Surgeon, adding “We are here to provide the best health care, high quality and low cost.”
Thirty-one fellowship-trained, Board-certified physicians provide care in nine office locations including Danbury, Darien, New Canaan, New Milford, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Sharon, Southbury and Westport.
In case of emergencies, the center also houses OrthoCare Express, an orthopedic urgent care service specifically designed to meet emergency needs during the day, after hours and on weekends.
Walk-in, sports injury treatment for the knee, hip, back, neck (cervical spine), foot, ankle, hand, elbow and shoulder are available throughout the day, giving patients prompt and immediate care for fractures and related urgent injuries. By avoiding an extra trip to the emergency room or regular urgent care office, patients receive an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan immediately.
OrthoCare Express’s hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am – 8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 3 pm. No appointment or referral are required, and most insurance plans are accepted.
