Health, What You Should Know

Getting Healthy Naturally

By Dr. Kenneth Hoffman DACM, L.Ac.

Did you know that most Americans don’t have great health? Many people feel tired, in pain, and have allergies or digestive troubles. Also, lots of money is being spent on medications to control blood pressure and cholesterol, and even problems like depression and anxiety. All of these difficulties lead to one thing, unhappiness and suffering in life.

However, there is a solution. Natural medicine has been used for thousands of years to treat many health conditions. Additionally, natural medicine has been well studied by major universities and medical schools. In fact, in some studies, treatments like acupuncture have been found to be just as effective as expensive medications with numerous side effects.

According to the World Health Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations concerned with international public health, there are over 120 diseases that can be treated with acupuncture. There are also many diseases like Type 2 diabetes that can be controlled by diet and lifestyle changes.

The philosophy of natural medicine is that the body can heal itself. This is how humans were designed by nature. If the body is not healing, there is a cause. This could be something like a poorly functioning body, nutrition deficiencies or past physical traumas and injuries. The key to long-term health is to find the root cause and correct it. That is what a natural medicine doctor is trained to do.

There are a variety of treatments in natural medicine that are safe, effective and inexpensive. This includes techniques like acupuncture, which can help to reduce pain and inflammation. Other treatments include the use of natural herbal products and supplements (vitamins) that help the body work better. Even customized diet changes can help the body to heal.

If you or a family member is suffering from allergies, arthritis, chronic pain, diabetes, heart disease or digestive problems, why not give natural medicine a try?
