In life, things are not always as they seem. Sometimes an offer is too good to be true. Sometimes a person is not who they seem to be. While these situations can come to a harmless – or hilarious – end, they can also lead to devastating consequences.
AARP Connecticut invites you to a FREE evening of comedy with Marian Pabón, a Puerto Rican actress and musician with a long career in television and theater. Marian’s performance, “Don’t Let Them Take You for a Fool,” is a humorous exploration of the topic of fraud that will both leave you laughing and provide valuable tips for how to protect yourself from scammers.
In the United States, an identity is stolen every two seconds. That’s 30 stolen identities every minute, 300 every 10 minutes, 900 every half hour. If those statistics are not alarming enough, remember, the only “type” of people scammers target are people they can steal from. In other words, it can happen to anyone. “Don’t Let Them Take You for a Fool,” which is coming to The Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury on Thursday, November 1, is one of many events that AARP Connecticut hosts throughout the state on an ongoing basis to educate people on how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.
Complimentary dinner and drinks are included as part of the free show, but registration is required, so reserve your spot now either online at https://aarp.cvent.com/MarianPabon or by calling 1-877-926-8300.
