Marian Pabón and AARP Connecticut Bring FREE Food and Laughter to Danbury

By Nora Duncan

In life, things are not always as they seem. Sometimes an offer is too good to be true. Sometimes a person is not who they seem to be. While these situations can come to a harmless – or hilarious – end, they can also lead to devastating consequences.

AARP Connecticut invites you to a FREE evening of comedy with Marian Pabón, a Puerto Rican actress and musician with a long career in television and theater. Marian’s performance, “Don’t Let Them Take You for a Fool,” is a humorous exploration of the topic of fraud that will both leave you laughing and provide valuable tips for how to protect yourself from scammers.

In the United States, an identity is stolen every two seconds. That’s 30 stolen identities every minute, 300 every 10 minutes, 900 every half hour. If those statistics are not alarming enough, remember, the only “type” of people scammers target are people they can steal from. In other words, it can happen to anyone. “Don’t Let Them Take You for a Fool,” which is coming to The Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury on Thursday, November 1, is one of many events that AARP Connecticut hosts throughout the state on an ongoing basis to educate people on how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.

Complimentary dinner and drinks are included as part of the free show, but registration is required, so reserve your spot now either online at https://aarp.cvent.com/MarianPabon or by calling 1-877-926-8300.

Marian Pabón is a well-known Puerto Rican actress with a television, film and theater career that spans decades. She is known for films such as Casi casi, Manhattan Merengue! and Desvío al paraíso, the television show El Condominio and numerous stage productions, including Little Shop of Horrors and Chicago. Marian has previously worked with AARP state offices in Puerto Rico and Florida, and AARP Connecticut is thrilled to bring her talents to Danbury.

AARP’s history of safeguarding American’s financial security began more than 50 years ago and fighting identity theft and fraud is part of that core mission. AARP’s Fraud Watch Network<http://www.aarp.org/fraudwatchnetwork> (FWN), a national initiative, arms Americans with the tools they need to spot and avoid fraud and scams so they can protect themselves and their families. AARP’s Fraud Watch Network has helped thousands of consumers avoid identity theft and common fraud schemes such as the IRS imposter scam, tech support imposters and the grandparents scam.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to laugh with Marian Pabón, enjoy a free dinner and drinks and learn about how to protect yourself from fraud. This event is open to anyone 21+. Register today and reserve your seat for this special event on November 1, 2018. Registration is available at https://aarp.cvent.com/MarianPabon or by calling 1-877-926-8300.
