Save Money on In-State Adventures with AARP’s Local Offers

By Nora Duncan, State Director, AARP CT

Summer is quickly approaching, so whether it’s fun in the sun or indoor activities, AARP members and guests can enjoy great local offers on admission to a variety of Connecticut museums and cultural attractions, local theater and musical performances.

AARP Connecticut offers members terrific year-round opportunities to save money and connect them with people and places in their community while supporting local, nonprofit educational and cultural venues. But there are some that are special to the summer months, including our popular “Fourth Friday Free at the Connecticut Beardsley Zoo.”

This four-month discount provides AARP members with free admission to the CT Beardsley Zoo on the fourth Friday of each month from June to September, and three additional guests of the AARP member a 15 percent discount off regular admission prices. Plus, visit the AARP booth on these dates to learn about all we’re doing in your community and to receive a 20 percent off coupon for one item at the zoo gift shop.

The promotion will begin on June 23 – with dates on July 28, August 25 and September 22 – but conclude with a special after-hours event at the zoo on Thursday, October 5. Unlike our discounts, this free event is also open to non-members as well. Space is limited for this unique opportunity to freely explore the zoo when it is closed to the public and enjoy complimentary heavy appetizers, beverages and special animal interactions, so register now at https://aarp.cvent.com/ZooAfterHours.

A sampling of our current member offers include:

Mystic Aquarium: AARP members receive $5 off adult, $5 off senior and $4 off child or youth general admission, for up to four admissions per visit, as well as $10 off a new membership.
