Association of Women Entrepreneurs Expands Professional Network in Connecticut

By Angela Barbosa

From attorneys to real estate brokers to personalized handcrafted soap makers, women have redefined power by not only building their own businesses against all odds, but also continuing to accomplish their roles as mothers and spouses. This scenario was well-exemplified at the second business network gathering of the Connecticut Association of Women Entrepreneurs (AME CT) on July at the Planeta Brazil Steakhouse in Danbury.

Over 40 female entrepreneurs came packed with enthusiasm and experience to exchange, and an open mind to learn from other women working in different industries.

AME’s role is to promote events in a comfortable and inviting setting where its members can exchange information and experience, support each other and build partnerships to grow their businesses,” explained Jana Camargo, AME CT director.

Angela Araújo, a Keller Williams realtor, shared her experience in partnership with artist Ana Paula Martins. “I partnered with Ana and we organized a meeting where the attendees learn about the real estate market and participate in a private tutorial with Ana to learn the steps to paint on canvas. Everyone loved it,” shared Araujo.

For real estate matters, Araujo can be reached at 203-858-2192. Martins’ artwork can be viewed at www.anasartwork.com.

Members also received a special treat from Amanda Abreu, owner of Bath Atelier by Amanda Abreu, who presented all participants with a green clay and honey handmade soap. For personalized soaps and crafts, contact Abreu at 203-417-1405.

A business roundtable was the highlight of the evening. Upon arriving at the event, each participant received a tag name with a ring sticker in a different color. Directors Camargo and Emily Pacheco formed groups according to color for a brief individual introduction and exchange of business cards among attendees.

AME has expanded its vision beyond Massachusetts. Its motto,“Together We Are Stronger,” is now established and followed by groups formed in the sates of New Jersey, Florida andConnecticut and in Brazil.

The next AME CT meeting will be held on September 14 at 5 p.m. at the Emmanuel Church, located at 331 Madison Avenue in Bridgeport, CT, 06604.

“It is going to be an extraordinary event. Our goal is to expand the group for all women entrepreneurs in the Bridgeport area,” explained Camargo. “We at AME CT want every woman to know that this project is for you, and we would love to have you join us at the first ‘Networking Mixer in Bridgeport.’”
