Seven Connecticut Locations Achieve Highest National Industry Distinction for Quality Care
American Family Care (AFC) locations in Danbury, West Hartford, New Britain, Vernon and Torrington have achieved Accreditation through the Urgent Care Association (UCA). This is the highest level of distinction for urgent care centers in the nation. AFC’s urgent care facilities met the stringent UCA criteria and established standards for quality of patient care, safety and scope of services provided, including x-ray and laboratory services.
Independently owned and operated by Connecticut native Tom Kelly for several years, the following AFC locations have once again earned the coveted honor:
- 1030 Boulevard, West Hartford, CT 06119
- 179 Talcottville Rd., Vernon, CT 06066
- 135 East Main St., New Britain, CT 06051
- 2 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810
- 100 Mill Plain Rd., Danbury, CT 06811
- 76 C Newtown Rd., Danbury, CT 06810
- 1171 East Main St., Torrington, CT 06790
“We’re excited to continue fulfilling our mission of making quality health care accessible and economical to residents across Connecticut,” said Kelly. “Our patient-centric approach combines stellar customer service with high-level care, which is a rare hospitality mindset in a medical facility.”
Kelly notes the UCA Accreditation is valid for 36 months and then must be renewed to maintain the designation. With this accreditation, AFC demonstrates its commitment to providing patients with exceptional care. In fact, AFC has just opened its 13th urgent care location in Torrington at 1171 East Main Street.
“The health care environment is changing, and it is becoming more and more important for patients to understand their treatment options,” explained Kelly. “Urgent care fills the gap between primary care and hospital emergency rooms, offering increased convenience and cost savings without sacrificing care.”
Urgent care is a viable option for medical conditions that cannot wait for a scheduled appointment with a primary care physician. AFC accepts unscheduled, walk-in patients during all hours of operation.
When a medical condition cannot be handled by a patient’s regular doctor – such as unexpected cuts, burns, sprains or fractures that do not require a visit to the emergency department, AFC’s urgent care centers are equipped with x-ray, laboratory services. Licensed providers are always available to perform minor procedures like casting and suturing.
