AFC Urgent Care Celebrates Milestone in Danbury

By Tribuna Staff

American Family Care (AFC) is celebrating its fifth year of providing medical care to the residents of Greater Danbury. AFC is the nation’s leading provider of urgent care and occupational medicine. In addition to providing high quality health care, AFC has created dozens of new jobs for the community.

Independent owner and operator Tom Kelly says choosing Danbury as the site of his first facility turned out to be a tremendous decision. “The support from our patients and neighbors motivated us to open two more centers in Danbury,” Kelly said. “We have our original Main Street location, as well as an east side location on Mill Plain Road and a west side facility on Newtown Road.” Since 2013, Kelly has opened three other AFC facilities in Connecticut: West Hartford, New Britain and Vernon.

AFC has pioneered the concept of non-emergency room urgent care and expanded its footprint across 26 states. All AFC clinics are designed, equipped and staffed to provide accessible urgent care and minor emergency treatment. Each clinic features a high-tech approach, including digital x-rays, on-site lab testing, state-of-the-art diagnostics and electronic medical records. The clinics are staffed by kind, caring and compassionate health care professionals.

“We’ve invested in technology and people who are passionate about helping others and who we believe to be the finest in the health care field,” said Kelly. “Our goal is to continue to identify and develop new centers across the state of Connecticut, providing health care efficiently, affordably and close to where our patients live.”

Kelly’s AFC clinics also feature a full suite of occupational medicine and workers’ compensation services. These services include OSHA-mandated medical surveillance exams, D.O.T. and non-D.O.T. drug screens and physicals and breath alcohol tests, among many other services.

“Not only does AFC help reduce the burden of overworked emergency rooms, but it cuts down the wait time for patients with non-life-threatening emergencies,” Kelly said. “Our objective has always been to offer, fast, efficient and affordable care and to have patients treated and out the door in as little as 30 – 45 minutes.”

Every AFC Urgent Care location is open seven days a week, and patients are welcome to walk-in; no appointments are necessary.
